Runway: Spring-Summer 2014 Haute Couture Chanel show

Karl Lagerfeld, creative director for Chanel, fitted his models in sneakers for the 2014 Spring-Summer Haute Couture show and that was just the beginning of the exquisite sights at this fashion show.

“No jewelry, no handbag, no blouses, no earrings, nothing! This was all about attitude and silhouette, shape and cut,” is how Lagerfeld described this year’s show in an interview with Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni.

There was a pep in each model’s step, which Lagerfeld said happened naturally because there was a sense of ease for each model as they conquered the daring catwalk.

The collection incorporated a lot of pastel colors and modest hemlines. Skirts came to the knee and sleeves were seen to the elbow. The focus of attention went to the tiny waists accented by corsets perfectly coordinated to the outfits.

In the dresses we saw feathers and as the show continued the looks become nude and sequins, very suggestive yet classy.

If we take anything away from this show, it is that sneakers can be ladylike and worn with everything!
