Review: ‘It’s Judy Time’ Eyeshadow Palette

Youtuber Judy, recognized by her username “ItsJudyTime,” has collaborated with BH Cosmetics to launch her own eyeshadow palette. I was interested in seeing what colors Judy chose for her palette, and the first pictures of the product that came out got me excited.

Although the palette normally retails for $19.95, the current promotion includes a 25% discount, which brings the price down to $14.95. According to BH Cosmetics’ official website, “ItsJudyTime eyeshadow palette is a gorgeous collection of 12 eyeshadows perfect for daytime or date night! Ranging from pretty neutrals to jewel tones of blue and purple this collection of colors, hand-picked by famed Beauty Guru ItsJudyTime, features satin, shimmer and matte finish eyeshadows.” (BHCosmetics.com)

The cardboard palette is sleek, small, and lightweight. The lid (top flap) is fitted with a magnet that helps secure the palette when closed, keeping the shadows covered and making it a safe accessory to travel with. Take a look at the swatches of each of the shadows:

I wish that each of the eyeshadow colors had individual names; the creative touch of christened colors is usually the best part of getting a palette. The colors are pretty, but not nearly as pigmented as I expected, especially the deep blue in the last column of the second row. My experience swatching the various eyeshadows tells me that the use of a primer is necessary prior to application, or else the colors show up faint.

The 4 glitter shades that sit to the left of the second row are beautiful, and I look forward to using them – however, colors this glittery do not make for everyday wear.

The It’sJudyTime eyeshadow palette is affordable, and features some great colors, but overall, it has let me down. Of the swatches I created above, I am only a fan of 5 of the 12 colors, because those 5 colors stand out from other similar products that are available in the same shades. Of course pointing out the 5 with no names is tough, but it’s the highlighting shade in the first row and column and the 4 shimmers I’ve mentioned from row 2.

I will begin to use the palette and experiment with application techniques shortly, and come back with an update as soon as I have something to share.
