Pops of Color in Floral and Black: OOTD

Black Floral Pop 5Whether it’s an ensemble for drinks with the girls or dinner with your bae, there is something about a floral print that just screams “pretty.” A dark, plain backdrop (in this case, black) further enhances the print by allowing the flowers to pop with their vivid hues.

The dress, an Xhiliration find from Target earlier this year, features a deep v-neck and long bell sleeves. I chose to keep today’s look semi-casual, adding in cropped leggings and strappy flats.

Because I decided to play with the pink hues in my top when doing my makeup, I used a contrasting, electric blue, large, Michael Kors wristlet as my handbag.

Keeping the deep v-neck in mind, I blowdried my hair, spritzed it with Davines’ Sea Salt spray, and left it down. The long, untied hair allows for statement earrings, so I pulled out these Primark chandeliers in purple and gold.

With my outfit and hair in place, the makeup was all that was left – and it had to suit the evening ambiance. I chose to go with a smokey eye shadow, black eyeliner, and pink lips.

The eye makeup was a sweep of pink shadow on my lids, before going in and buffing black into the crease and outer corner. Using a pencil, I lined my upper lid, waterline, and my lower lash line.

For lipstick, I turn to my trusty liquid lipsticks. This is Rimmel Provocalips 16hr Kissproof lip color in “I’ll Call You,” with NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in “Natural.”

On a typical day, I will stick to either a bold lip or eye, and for this look, I let the eyes do all the talking.
